It's cold and windy outside today, but we really needed to play. We have been driving our "mom" crazy chasing each other in the house. It's too boring to play inside when we have so much room to roam around outside.
Oops, we're sorry, we haven't properly introduced ourselves to you. I am a two year old red dilute brushcoat shar pei mini named Meng Dao and my partner is a 4 month old blue brushcoat shar pei mini named Rai-Zen Pi. Our human mom is Debi. We live in Eastern North Carolina on a mini farm, which is kind of funny because we are minis.
I was born in Missouri and traveled to NC via car to my new home. It was a long ride, but I was very excited when I met mom. I knew right away I was going to be one happy peiby. I've been extremely lucky health wise. I haven't had any problems that used to be associated with shar pei. I've never had any entropian issues or skin problems. Mom makes sure she takes me to the vet on a regular basis. A long time ago mom had another shar pei that had skin issues so she keeps us on a wheat free diet. We have Nature's Recipe Farm Brand Selects for our meals. If we're really good we get added vegetables and fruits. We adore green beans, carrots, peas and especially sweet potatoes.
Rai-Zen Pi was born in Four Oaks, North Carolina. I went with my mom to see him when he was only 2 weeks old. Mom was very pleased with the breeder and decided then and there to adopt this little boy. Just before Christmas Mom made another trip to Four Oaks and brought him home. I'll let Rai-Zen Pi tell you his story.
Hi, since Miss Know It All Meng, has already told you my name, I'll play like Paul Harvey and tell you the rest of the story. Meng forgot to mention our Dad. He is the one took Mom to Four Oaks to bring me home. Dad and Mom stopped at a big store and with me tucked in a baby sack (how degrading) We went shopping for me, picking out a bed and food dishes, as well as a new collar and leash and a few toys. It was my very first car ride and I felt really woozy and a little nervous. I tossed my cookies, but Mom cleaned me and her off and told me not to worry. Dad told Mom it was just like having a baby.
When we arrived at my new home, I was introduced to Meng. I knew right away that this was going to be a fun place to live. We basically have the run of the house. Mom has some rules which I suppose is a good thing, they are reasonable. We must go outside to "do our business". She wasn't too happy with me when I wet her bathroom rug. I assumed the bathroom was the place to go, but she insisted that I had to let her know when I wanted to go potty. We aren't allowed to eat at the table, which is unfair because it smells so good. We can live with it though because if we behave she will give us vegetables.
I'm really lucky to have Meng. Don't tell her though, it will go to her head. Meng is a good teacher. She showed me how to play fetch and tug o' war. I've learned what Mom calls commands from Meng. She taught me sit, shake and sit pretty before I was even 3 months old. It was very easy. We will be back soon to tell you more about our adventures. Just remember, it hasn't been a good day unless you've been loved by a shar pei!
